Peer Review , Film Review , and Film Changes

Hey, I'm back!! I'm here today to talk about our film review blog. This is where we reflect on how the filming process went. Also, I will add some peer review comments as well as a discussion about the changes we made. Let's begin with the film days themselves. When we got all the group members together at the filming location, the process wasn't long. We efficiently set up our equipment and started filming, making sure to capture multiple angles and scenes to give us options during editing. After reviewing the footage, we received feedback from our peers on pacing, lighting, and acting performances, leading us to make adjustments in post-production to enhance the overall quality of the film. It took an hour to an hour and a half at most to finish filming. Editing only took me two short days. I worked tirelessly to piece together the footage, carefully selecting the best shots and piecing them together to create a cohesive story. I added the music Suse chose, sound ef...

Peer review

Image
Heyyyy everyone!!! I'm here for my last production blog. Don't worry, I'll be back for other blogs, but I'm done with my personal blogs.   It's been such an incredible experience sharing my thoughts and insights with you all.   But I'm not here to talk about my last blog, but about my groupmates. I worked in a group with Suse and Aurum. Working with Suse and Aurum was truly an adventure. We had our fair share of disagreements and challenges, but we always managed to push through and deliver some amazing work together. Aurum brought his creativity, while Suse brought her problem-solving skills. Working with them as a group is truly a rewarding experience that I will always cherish. Our collaboration and teamwork have not only produced excellent results but also strengthened our bond as friends. I look forward to future opportunities to work with such talented individuals again. Some of the challenges we faced were with scheduling. We're all busy, and that m...

Film day

Image
Heyyyyy everyone!!! I'm here to talk about my group's film days. This will highlight the main parts of our film days. We went to these film days hoping to get all our work done. We weren't able to get it all done, but a great deal did get finished. We need maybe two more days to get everything completely done. Even if we didn't get it all done, I'm still proud of everything we did. In our first meeting, we started off by brainstorming ideas and eventually settled on a concept that we were all excited about. We decided to do introductions, the roles, and practicing the scripts. It was fun getting to know the person playing Stewart. The next film day we had, we divided up tasks and got to work filming scenes. It was a lot of fun trying to capture the perfect shot and bring our vision to life. Despite some technical difficulties and a few hiccups along the way, we managed to pull together and get it done. In post-production, I spent long hours editing and adding fini...

Music

Image
Heyyyyy everyone!!! I'm here to talk about the music that will be used in our movie. But before I talk about the music being used, I messed up at the end of my last blog. My last groupmate can do something on her own. She has a tiny scene where she's by herself. It's a close up scene that goes into a medium close up of her screaming. This is the part of the movie where she finds Aj's body and is left in complete shock and fear. She has to do the same thing Aj has to do. But her video has to be 10–15 seconds long. Once she does, I will have to edit it to make it look realistic. I know I will be so impressed with her performance during the scene. Now, back to the music. My group came to the conclusion that we should use free music. We searched for hours, listening to different tracks, and finally found the perfect one that fit the mood of the scene. As we watched and listened to different free music, we all knew that we had created something truly special. We knew that ...

What could be done at home

Image
Heyyyyy everyone!!! I'm here to talk about things that can be done at home. When I say done at home, I mean editing and film wise. Two people from my group could've done something at home. The first person who could do something at home is Aj. There's a scene in the movie where Aj has to lay on the floor like he's dead. This scene has a murder mystery vibe. I had to edit this scene to make it look realistic, adding in blood and special effects to enhance the murder mystery feel. Aj, on the other hand, had to practice his acting skills at home to perfect his dead body pose. Together, we will be able to create a chilling and suspenseful scene that adds depth to our film. The video doesn't have to be long. It just has to be around 4-6 seconds long. Anything longer wouldn't be a problem, but the ideal time would be 4-6 seconds. The other person who can do something at home is me. I do most, if not all, of the editing for my group. I spend hours meticulously editin...

Editing

Image
Heyyyyyy everyone!!! Today I'm talking about editing. I hope that editing doesn't get too difficult. So far, it's been okay. But I know that as we continue to grow and improve, the editing process will only become more challenging. However, I am confident that, with our dedication and determination, we will be able to overcome any obstacles that come our way.   We did end up having a problem with our movie clip length. This did happen a couple of times. The video would always come out too long or too short. Our video became too long based on the assignment rubric. So naturally, we began to cut down on some clips. This led to us having to continually redo and replan scenes. We knew that, with perseverance and teamwork, we would be able to find a solution. By brainstorming and collaborating effectively, we were able to make the necessary adjustments and ultimately produce a final product that we were proud of. This experience only strengthened our resolve and taught us valu...

planning the next meet up

Image
Heyyyy guys!!!!! I'm here to make up for the bad news from my last blog. We came up with new meet up days. I was happy when my group and I finally agreed to meet up on new days. We were determined to make sure that this time everyone would be present and we could finally get all the recordings done. I reached out to my friend who plays Aaliyah, and she was excited to join us for the next meet-up. With a renewed sense of determination and excitement, we were ready to make up for lost time and create something amazing together. This was a difficult process because everyone had a busy schedule. If you remember from my older blogs when I talked about scheduling and my group mates, Suse runs her own business doing hair. And my other groupmate, Aj, spends a lot of his time studying and doing homework. Despite the difficulties we faced with everyone's schedules, we were all committed to making our project a success. We made sure to communicate regularly and plan ahead to ensure that...

Attempted meet up

Image
Hi everyone I'm back. I'm here to talk about my group and our meet up. Well attempted meet-up, you see, it never actually happened, sadly. It was January 13th when we tried to meet up. Our planned time was 4:00 p.m., but I ended up running errands until 6 p.m., which messed up our time. By the time I finally arrived, everyone had already left. I felt terrible for wasting everyone's time and not being able to make it on time. I promised to make it up to them by planning another meet-up soon, this time making sure to prioritize and manage my time better. Hopefully, next time we can all actually meet up and have a great time together. This was extra bad because I'm the director of the movie. So without me, we weren't able to record. I felt even worse knowing that my absence had a direct impact on the progress of the movie we were working on. As the director, I should have been the one leading by example and ensuring that everything ran smoothly. I vowed to learn from...

Props

Image
Hi everyone I'm back and here to talk about the things that are needed for our movie's opening. The props we need are going to be crucial in setting the scene and creating an immersive experience for our audience. We need to make sure that all the props are authentic and true to the time period of our film. The time period of our movie is current. The attention to detail in the props will help transport our audience into the world we are creating on screen. It will enhance the overall viewing experience and make the story more believable. Authentic props not only add credibility to the story but also resonate with the audience on a deeper level. For instance, using historically accurate props can transport viewers to a specific time period, evoke nostalgia, and create a more immersive viewing experience. This attention to detail can make the audience feel more connected to the characters and the world of the movie. The props that will be used in the movie are fake blood, fake...

Title Research: Splice

Image
What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? The main title shows up last during the opening sequence of this film. The film shows credits as almost like growths on the mysterious creatures skin through CGI. The film also gives other credits in a more traditional typed format way throughout the intro. - What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? The film keeps us following along with this one mysterious reptile like creature. The film prioritizes dark images with effects that make it seem as though you are in some type of liquid watching this mysterious creature grow.  - How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the opening sequences? They establish a feeling of curiosity by not fully revealing the creature. At the same time some level of fear as to what the creature is and what they can do. The music and camera work make for a very immersive experience further driving home these feelings.

Final genre decision

Image
My definition of a thriller a would sound like this. A genre that is filled with feelings of suspense, mysteriousness, and immense tension. With this in mind me and my group came up with our opening sequence. Which is filled with the mystery of who is guilty of murder. As well as the suspense and tension of realizing that the killer is right among the seemingly innocent group of friends.

Genre research: Psychology

Image
Further exploration into the psychological genre has allowed for us to spot things that are in line with other pieces of media within the same genre including: Common CAMS Angles

High Angle: A character may seem more diminutive or exposed from this viewpoint. It could imply dominance or power dynamics. Low Angle: A character may appear more intimidating or strong when shot from a low viewpoint, which may evoke feelings of intimidation or authority. Eye Level: Eye level filming is regarded as impartial and might facilitate a closer emotional connection between the viewer and the characters. In dialogue scenes, it is frequently utilized. Movements Zoom In/Out: Zooming can be utilized to draw attention to specifics, amplify feelings, or highlight significant elements. An abrupt zoom can also have this effect. Pan: Panning offers a dynamic viewpoint and is frequently employed to expose new details in a scene or to track a character's progress. Tilt: You can emphasize depth or height ...

Title Research: Art of the Title Website

We are researching this website because it has a wide and diverse amount of films in our genre. From Classics like the Little shop of Horrors to Terrifier 2. Films like these and thrillers like Captain America: Winter Solider and even game adaptations allow for extensive research and understanding of our genre The website is also easier to navigate compared to the other website. The website makes it easier to find movies for our genre compared to the other website. Art of the title not only provides many films but also hundreds of studios and designers. With movies that fit the time period of today. The video interface is also easier to navigate than the other website. Art of the title also goes more in depth with production as well. The only downside is that it can be hard sometimes to find a specific movie due to the sheer amount of films the website has.
